The best places to hike in Western New York

If you are near Niagara or Buffalo, NY these trails are some of the best places to check out. Western New York has so many hidden gems that are perfect for a day out exploring!

 

Letchworth State Park

Letchworth State Park is a gorgeous park sometimes known as the 'Grand Canyon of the East' due to its twisting canyons along the river. There are three major waterfalls, and hikers can choose from 66 miles of hiking trails around the park. This state park is truly a must see in Western New York!

 

Eternal Flame Falls

As the name suggests, this 1.4 mile trail is centered around a fascinating attraction - a small flame that is visible nearly all year long beneath a cascading waterfall. Check out this marvel of nature while going on a great hike in Western NY!

 

Niagara Gorge Hiking Trails

If you visit Niagara Falls, you don't want to miss the Niagara Gorge Hiking Trails. This is some of the best hiking trails in the region. You have 8 trails to choose from, and some challenging trails having sections with steep stairs and rocks to scramble over. You should be prepared before you come, but the beautiful views are worth it.

 

Grimes Glen

Grimes Glen is a 1.1 mile trail near Naples, NY that is great if you enjoy rock scrambling. As it follows a flowing creek and features a waterfall, expect your shoes to get a little wet!

 

Akron Falls Park

This beautiful waterfall is location in Akron, NY and features a nice and easy 0.8 mile trail in the park. Bring appropriate shoes because it is enjoyable to walk by the creek. There are many other activities available if you want to spend more time enjoying the nature at Akron Falls Park.

 

Knox Farm State Park

Knox Farm State Park was created on the former country estate of a renowned Buffalo family. It is a 633 acre park with plenty of trails for hiking, cross-country skiing, and even horseback riding, If you are interested in a little history while you hike, this might be the perfect place for you!
